SAFFA abroad is an information website for South Africans who are living or travelling outside country borders. We aggregate and curate content for our website from various sources globally and provide this information to our users.

Although we are dedicated to providing information which is accurate and resources which are vetted, we cannot be held liable for misinformation, losses suffered from information sourced from these third parties or services rendered by resources or service providers featured or linked from our site.

SAFFA abroad provides political and financial news, financial information and tools, travel and visa information as well as a range of other information. We are not, however, a registered provider of any financial, governmental or other authorised services and urge users of our site to verify information with accredited providers of such services before making any decisions or using any services. Contact your authorised financial services provider, travel agent, government agency or other provider for information specific to your needs.

What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?

How do we protect your information?

SAFFA abroad uses site security to conduct frequent Malware Scans. We only provide articles, information and links to third parties and will never ask for credit card numbers. We will never mail you to request login details or sensitive personal information. We encourage all our users to use strong passwords which are updated frequently and to conduct malware scans on their own systems and devices.

Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems and are required to keep the information confidential. In addition, all sensitive/credit information you supply is encrypted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology.

We implement a variety of security measures when a user enters, submits, or accesses their information to maintain the safety of your personal information.

If and when transactions will become available on our website, such transactions are processed through a gateway provider and are not stored or processed on our servers.
Do we use 'cookies'?

Do we disclose the information we collect to Third-Parties?

We do sell,trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties some of your personal information in order to verify site traffic or to provide you with supplementary services from third parties, and/or to integrate your account with third parties.

We engage in this practice to offer services by service providers who can assist South African expats abroad.

Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these sites.
Google

Google's advertising requirements can be summed up by Google's Advertising Principles. They are put in place to provide a positive experience for users. We have not yet enabled Google AdSense on our site but will do so in the future.

COPPA (Children Online Privacy Protection Act)

When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under the age of 13 years old, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, United States' consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online.

We do not specifically market to children under the age of 13 years old.

 

In order to be in line with Fair Information Practices we will take the following responsive action, should a data breach occur:

      Within 7 business days
We will notify the users via in-site notification
      Within 1 business day
We also agree to the Individual Redress Principle which requires that individuals have the right to legally pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to adhere to the law. This principle requires not only that individuals have enforceable rights against data users, but also that individuals have recourse to courts or government agencies to investigate and/or prosecute non-compliance by data processors.

 

We collect your email address in order to:

      Market to our mailing list or continue to send emails to our clients after the original transaction has occurred.
To be in accordance with CANSPAM, we agree to the following:
